Mani mini-crescent knife and 1mm slit knife

Mini Crescent

A small but perfectly-formed and perfectly sharp blade which is ideal for performing incisions during trabeculectomy and pterygium surgery.

The benefits over traditional scleral blades are clear. The Mani mini-crescent is slender (1.25mm), short in length and gently angled (25deg). It allows excellent visibility during scleral flap formation.

1.0mm Slit (Keratome) Knife

For a perfect paracentesis incision. This knife, like all Mani keratomes, exhibits excellent sharpness. Side incisions can now be performed with the same precision and ease as the main incision

Life easier with EasyGas

EasyGas is the new range of ready-to-use intraocular gas products from Fluoron-Geuder. Instead of manually drawing gas in theatre using cumbersome large gas cylinders EasyGas enables you to mix a precise single patient dose as a CE marked product which is traceable and regulated.

Stickers showing lot number and bar code are supplied with each dose which can be attached to patient notes. EasyGas utilises specially designed syringes in which the gas is already dwelling. Preparation and application is quick and safe.
EasyGas is available in three variants. SF6 (Sulfurhexafluoride), C3F8 (Octafluoropropane) and C2F6 (Hexafluoroethane).

EasyGas is manufactured in Germany by Fluoron (a division of Geuder) whom for many years have been the leading manufacturer of heavy fluids and silicone oils for VR surgery. Available exclusively in the UK from Altomed, further details are available from our customer services department at sales@altomed.com or phone 0191 5190111

SILURON 2000. New Pricing

We are happy to announce new lower pricing for this unique, recently developed silicone oil formulation.

SILURON 2000 is a mixture of SILURON 1000 (Fluoron’s standard 1000 mPas Oil), and silicone oil exhibiting a viscosity of 2.500.000 mPas.
This product, after testing, appears to be the optimum formulation to enable relatively easy and rapid delivery into the eye, even during 23G surgery, combined with a healthy resistance to emulsification, (which is the typical drawback of lower viscosity oils).

Altomed have lowered the price in the UK to allow retinal specialists and their patients to benefit from this unique tamponade, in cases where small incisions vitrectomy surgery is indicated.

Altomed are the exclusive UK dealers for Fluoron products. Check our price and request a free sample at sales@altomed.com or 0191 5190111

Its heavier than before

Brilliant Peel, the CE marked non-toxic selective ILM dye has now been made even more effective with the inclusion of ‘heavier’ water in the composition, resulting in a faster and more intense staining performance.

The known advantages of Brilliant peel remain:

• Application under air or liquid

• Stable Concentration

• Pure, stringent manufacturing techniques preclude need for filter

• Ready to use

• CE marked for its purpose

The manufacturer of Brilliant Peel, Fluoron, have a proven track record of manufacturing the highest quality intraocular oils and  heavy fluids which are trusted by many VR surgeons. Since the launch of Brilliant Peel the trust that the Fluoron brand has among surgeons has been reflected in its adoption as a standard tool.

Fluoron products are exclusively available in the UK from Altomed

New generation scleral buckling from Labtician

Wider silicone strips are now widely used post-vitrectomy to provide buckling. These sleeves are difficult to secure with traditional round sleeves. So we can offer the new Labtician Oval Sleeves. They provide a flatter less intrusive profile when in position.

Another innovation is the arrival of ‘Buckling Sleeves’. Less invasive than a silicone ‘tyre’ or sponge the Wong Buckling Sleeves do two jobs in one, securing the chosen band or strip, and providing more buckling than a standard sleeve. The sleeve, developed by David Wong, from Toronto Canada, has an asymmetrical shape, having a bulkier bottom half.
